History tells us...
The sheer simplicity of a new infrastructure can be difficult to understand before it exists.



Electricity technology was unstable and confusing when a public supply was first suggested. People wanted to know how all the different types of electricity then on offer would be accommodated in a public supply, whether electricity was for homes or offices and whether supply would be available on Sundays!

The answer to all these queries of course was that transforming electricity into genuine public infrastructure involved a new approach. If properly thought through it could become a mundane, no-thought-required, universal, utility.
